Choosing the Right Firearm for a Beginner | NSSF

Professional 3-gun shooter Ryan Muller shares his favorite firearms to start off a new shooter at the range.

Important tips for bringing new shooter to the range.

Make sure that you choose the correct firearm. I personally think that the 22 long rifle is ideal because it has minimal recoil and the cost of the load is relatively inexpensive. You can even take it one step further with the addition of a legally owned suppressor.

It’s going to help mitigate recoil and control some of that muzzle blast. These are new shooters and you want to make sure that that their first experience is positive. So while they may be fun to play with, leave the 44 mag and the turkey loads at home.

Grab a friend, a 22 long rifle, hit the range and let’s go shooting!
