CrossBreed Holsters has developed a holstering solution for hunters and outdoor adventurers heading afield with full-size backpacks or daypacks. The new Chest Rig Nomad solves the problem of carrying a handgun comfortably with easy access while wearing a pack.

Based on Crossbreed’s original Chest Rig for pistols and revolvers, the Nomad features three adjustable hook-and-loop straps that secure the system between a backpack’s shoulder straps. Designed as a universal fit for most backpacks, daypacks and cargo haulers, this configuration places the handgun high on the torso for comfortable all-day carry, providing quick access when traveling remote backcountry.

The core of the Nomad is a handgun-model-specific rugged Kydex pocket fitted to CrossBreed’s premium soft and breathable leather backer. This wide and padded backer distributes pressure and supports the handgun to eliminate uncomfortable “hot spots” and pressure points during long days on the trail. Because the three-point strap system is adjustable, the Chest Rig Nomad adapts not only to different pack designs but can be loosened or tightened to accommodate seasonal clothing requirements.

Further customizing of the rig comes courtesy of the versatile handgun retention system. Loosening or tightening the pocket-to-backer screws provides the optimal lateral tension on the handgun, while the integrated trigger guard retainer can be adjusted for perfect retention and draw performance similar to CrossBreed’s Reckoning holster system.

Taking the pack off or putting it on is made easy with a quick-release buckle system. Simply compress the side release just as you would the pack’s sternum strap buckle and the pack can be taken off without having to remove the holster.

The Chest Rig Nomad is offered in a wide range of handgun model fits and with assorted hardware color options. You can also choose between the durable black cowhide leather backing or CrossBreed’s popular Founders backing.
