The results are in for October 2024’s most expensive firearms sold on GunBroker, and the list is nothing short of thrilling, featuring a mix of rare, unique, and historic guns. Topping the list at #1 is a Colt M16A1 M4 5.56mm Machine Gun, which sold for an impressive $125,000. This virtually brand-new, rare firearm is a full-auto, transferable F3 machine gun that was meticulously overhauled by Colt in 2004 to meet the specifications of the modern M4. Additionally, it was refinished in black to align with the aesthetic of contemporary Colt AR models. What makes it even more remarkable is that it’s believed to have been only factory test-fired, enhancing its status as an incredibly rare find. Furthermore, the firearm was part of a prominent Colt collector’s personal collection, adding to its exclusivity and appeal.

At #12, we find a historically significant Springfield 1875 Trapdoor Officer’s Rifle, a 3rd Type model with a 26″ barrel chambered in .45-70. Manufactured between 1875 and 1885, this rifle bears the inspector’s mark “SWP/1885” and is one of only about 100 examples of its kind ever produced. As a result, this rare piece commanded a price of $19,000.

Additionally, another notable entry on the list is the Winchester Model 1873 First Model Saddle Ring Carbine, chambered in .44 WCF (44-40). Produced in January 1876, this early firearm is distinguished by its “pre-Custer” serial number and features a standard 20″ barrel. After attracting 59 bids from 16 bidders across 12 states, it sold for $17,025, securing the #15 spot on the list.
