Meet the newest Taurus Raging Hunter for 2023, now available in 460 S&W Mag with a 10” barrel! They’ve also designed a proprietary, first-of-its-kind muzzle brake that reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil 25% more than conventional barrel ports. Those who have had the pleasure of shooting one are impressed with how little recoil it has compared to other revolvers chambered in 460 S&W Mag, currently the second most powerful handgun cartridge in the world (topped only by the 500 S&W).
In case you didn’t know, the Taurus Raging Hunter 460 S&W Mag Revolver can also safely chamber and fire 454 Casull as a “mid-range load” or a 45 Long Colt as a “short load”. Thanks to that compensator, the 454 Casull’s recoil is also greatly tamed, and 45 Long Colt becomes the equivalent of a plinker round. This versatility gives you a wide selection of ammo to choose from for the range or the field. The fixed front and adjustable rear fiber-optic sights are perfect for hunting, and the Picatinny top rail allows you to add the optic of your choice. The bottom rail lets you mount a bipod and have your stand’s shooting lane ready for the next critter to cross.
The MSRP for the Taurus Raging Hunter 460 S&W Magnum Revolver is $1,259.00, and they’re available for sale now.
The 460 S&W Magnum is a caliber ideally suited for hunting large game. Everything from deer to elk, moose, and bear have been taken with this super-cartridge. The straight-walled case makes it legal to hunt within states that restrict bottleneck cartridges or only allow handgun hunting. (Double-check your state regulations before hunting any game with any firearm, of course.)
The key differences between the Taurus Raging Bull and the Taurus Raging Hunter are in design. The Raging Bull has a full bull barrel and vented rib, making it heavier than the Raging Hunter. The Raging Hunter cuts weight by having a fluted alloy barrel and a lightweight barrel shroud. Essentially, although you can definitely hunt with a Taurus Raging Bull, the Raging Hunter is specifically tuned for field time.
