Meet the new New Chiappa Little Badger Take Down Xtreme! The latest Chiappa Little Badger Rifle is a survival rifle that’s simultaneously stripped down while still full of features and ready for accessories. The Chiappa Little Badger rifle is a bare-bones folding rifle intended to be a small-game hunting rifle and survival rifle.
The Little Badger Take Down Xtreme .22 LR rifle is the next generation of the series. It retains the 12-round ammunition holder in the buttstock, but the buttplate folds up against the steel rod stock to be more compact. They’ve dubbed it the “TDX” as the Chiappa Little Badger Takedown rifle doesn’t just fold in half like the regular model, it also has a thumbscrew so you can separate it into two pieces. Then the two parts slide together using the Picatinny rail system into a dainty 17” package for transportation and storage. Speaking of that, every Chiappa Little Badger Take Down Xtreme comes with a water-resistant screw-top carrying tube. It’s an ultra-lightweight rifle, coming in at a mere 2.9 lbs.
The Chiappa Little Badger takedown rifle’s 16.5” barrel is outfitted with military-style M1 fixed front and adjustable M1 rear sights for accuracy and simplicity. The barrel also has a 1/2″x28 muzzle thread. The alloy frame has a Picatinny quad rail forend for attaching optics, red dots, lights, and lasers, giving it the kind of options usually reserved for a tactical rifle. There’s also a Picatinny section behind the trigger guard that gives a little extra traction for your fingers and allows you to attach a pistol grip.
The MSRP for the Chiappa Little Badger Take Down Xtreme Rifle is around $280.00.
The Chiappa Little Badger Take Down backcountry rifle is pretty accurate, considering what it’s designed for. It produces nice groups at 25 yards using the factory iron sights, but adding an optic like a micro red dot could get you out to about 50 yards. For small games like squirrels and rabbits, this is plenty accurate.
The TDX stows inside a durable plastic tube container with secure screw closure.
