Professional stock car driver Garrett Smithley has secured a new sponsor for upcoming iRacing events: Gunbroker.com.
Garrett Smithley and Rick Ware Racing recently announced a primary sponsorship from Gunbroker.com, which will cover the next five racing events and will potentially extend to the Brickyard 400, which is an in-person racing event currently scheduled for July.
As a result of recent shelter-in-place orders and the need for social distancing, iRacing has become more popular than ever before. Because of these issues, traditional in-person races have been canceled or postponed for the time being. During this challenging and unpredictable time, iRacing allows stock car drivers to continue to race and entertain fans. Drivers have been relying on iRacing while the regular races are not being held, and fans have learned to transfer their interest in the sport to this exciting virtual platform.
Both Smithley and Gunbroker.com have been involved in iRacing in the past, even before shelter-in-place orders were issued. During the current season, Smithley has already been able to showcase his abilities with two top-five finishes in NASCAR Pro Invitational iRacing Series events, and he is excited to exercise his skills in hopes of winning additional races. When interviewed, Smithley expressed his gratitude to NASCAR for facilitating these races, as well as his excitement about the sponsorship he is receiving from Gunbroker.com.
Gunbroker.com is an impressive online marketplace that allows users to shop for firearms, ammunition and a variety of related accessories. Both new and used items are available on this website, offering users plenty of options. In light of the pandemic and the concern it has created within the population, many firearms dealers have dealt with shortages of firearms and ammunition, but Gunbroker.com has plenty of inventory available.
Previously, Gunbroker.com has sponsored Cup Series races twice, 13 races in the Xfinity Series and 162 entries in the Truck Series. However, the website has been out of racing for the past eight seasons. The eNASCAR platform presented Gunbroker.com with the ideal opportunity to resume its involvement in the sport. In a recent press release, CEO of Gunbroker.com Steve Urvan called iRacing “wonderful entertainment” and stated that he was very excited about the budding partnership between Smithley and Gunbroker.com. He hopes to see Smithley win many races in the future as he continues to build his skills as a driver, both virtually and in traditional races.
