What is so rare about this 1911? It was created by Union Switch & Signal, which you may know better as a railroad signaling company. Doing their part for the war effort, Union created about 50,000 pistols, the second lowest of any company. Only Singer, the sewing machine company, made fewer.

Laugo Alien

The Laugo Alien, created by Czech manufacturer Laugo Arms, claims to have the lowest bore axis of any 9mm pistol. Compared to the Glock 17, which already has a low bore axis, it is easy to see why they are making that claim. The Alien is meant specifically for the Production division of the IPSC sport shooting competition. The barrel sits very low on the grip frame and is permanently fixed to the frame. Similar to an H&K P7, it has a gas piston delayed blowback system.
