Leupold Launches BX-6 Range HD Rangefinding Binoculars With Hornady Ballistics

Leupold & Stevens has announced the launch of the new BX-6 Range HD rangefinding binocular. Using world-class optical clarity, fast, accurate ranging capabilities out to 6,000 yards, advanced ballistics intelligence and precision GPS pinning, the BX-6 Range HD is poised to be the most feature-rich rangefinding binocular available.

“Our team put an incredible amount of work into the BX-6 Range HD, and the result is the most complete rangefinding binocular on the market.” said Tim Lesser, Vice President of Product and Marketing for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “You’re getting incredible glass, the most advanced ballistics possible and the most accurate GPS pinning software available. It is the whole package and offers solutions for both hunters and shooters.”

As a binocular, it all starts with the glass. The BX-6 Range HD offers unmatched light transmission. Its designed to outperform the most challenging conditions, with industry-leading glare reduction for a clear image in direct, harsh light. It also has the resolution and clarity that professional hunting guides and shooters demand. With the best optical performance Leupold has ever offered in a rangefinding binocular, the BX-6 Range HD sets a new standard. The rangefinding engine is capable of exceeding ranges of 2,000 yards on deer-sized game, 3,000 yards on trees and 6,000 yards in long-range mode. It delivers the fastest and most accurate ranging performance available.

Advanced Ballistics Intelligence

The BX-6 Range HD is also the first rangefinding binocular to utilize the Hornady 4DOF ballistic calculator. This modern ballistic solver models how a specific bullet behaves in flight. It delivers dependable, highly accurate trajectory solutions at long range. Unlike traditional ballistic calculators that rely on ballistic coefficient, 4DOF uses real, Doppler-measured bullet data to account for bullet drag. Those drag coefficients are then paired with the exact physical model of a specific projectile. By matching drag coefficient and the physical model of the bullet, 4DOF can accurately predict the dynamic responses of a bullet in flight. This provides more reliable predictions for drop and wind drift, helping shooters make confident adjustments when precision matters most.

Offering a more generalized solution is Leupold’s existing CDS ballistic technology. It provides angle-compensated shoot-to distances for rifle hunters. CDS offers 25 selectable ballistics groups that account for preferred cartridges, helping dial in the exact range of targets.

Archery hunters and competition shooters are taken care of, too, with the inclusion of the new Precision Cut Archery Software. PCA uses arrow weight, arrow velocity, peep height and environmentals to calculate extremely accurate archery ballistic solutions. By including atmospheric conditions when sighting in and setting up sight tapes Leupold provides accurate shoot-to distances at all elevations and angles, corrected to sight-in tape.

“PCA changes the game by reducing re-zero conditions when you reach your archery camp,” said Eric Overstreet, Technology Product Line Manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “It will provide ranges compensated to your sight tape, regardless of location or atmospheric conditions. It’s the equivalent of real-time ballistics for archers.”

Both 4DOF and PCA can provide advanced, real-time ballistics thanks to the BX-6 Range HD’s on-board environmental sensor.

Precision GPS Pinning

Built for the modern hunter, the BX-6 Range HD is also equipped with Leupold’s Precision GPS Pinning feature.

Precision Pinning converts ranged targets into exact, shareable map waypoints with unrivaled accuracy. Using proprietary compass calibration and in-field tuning via the Leupold Control App, every pin lands precisely where it should. Location pins can be dropped in digital mapping platforms like onX, Apple Maps, Google Maps, ATAK, HuntStand and DeerCast. This makes the BX-6 Range HD invaluable as a navigational device.

“Precision Pinning is an incredibly valuable and versatile feature,” Overstreet said. “You can use it to help navigate a ridge, mark where you’ve seen game or for countless other purposes. It’s a tool made for the backcountry hunter, and when properly calibrated the BX-6 Range will typically drop waypoints within 1 degree of your ranged targets–absolutely an industry best.”

Leupold Control App

The BX-6 Range HD’s ballistics and Precision Pinning software is managed through the unit’s Bluetooth connection with the Leupold Control App.

The Leupold Control app transforms mobile devices into a powerful command centers for select Leupold products. With it, folks can customize modes and settings, adjust ballistic profiles, capture accurate ranges and precisely drop GPS waypoints—all with just a few quick taps.

Available for free download in the Apple Store and for Android on Google Play, the Leupold Control App allows users to customize the BX-6 Range HD experience. Choose ballistics, rangefinding display settings, reticle and more.

More Features, More Performance

The BX-6 Range HD includes a vivid red, dimmable AccuView Display. In addition to the Leupold Control App, it offers simple on-unit programming using five directional buttons.

Interchangeable, form-fit eyecups allow for customization to suit personal preferences. A binocular case, lens covers and an Arca-Swiss tripod adapter are included with purchase.

The BX-6 Range HD is waterproof and extreme climate tested. It is also backed by Leupold’s Optical Lifetime Guarantee and 5-Year Limited Electronics Guarantee.
