GLOCK has been in the news a lot recently, mostly because of bad people who break the law with its pistols. Because of that, the California legislature passed a bill banning the sale of GLOCK pistols, though the brand wasn’t specially named in the bill. Still, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law. And we can’t forget about GLOCK discontinuing some of its pistols in April 2025.
This, of course, leads right into the latest reason that GLOCK is hitting the news, the discontinuation of pistol models. Quite a few models, in fact. According to multiple sources, GLOCK is dropping almost everything. And it is doing this as of the end of November. The company is also introducing a new pistol model called the GLOCK V, which has been confirmed. New GLOCK V models will be coming in December.
GLOCK has not, however, confirmed that the company is dropping everything but three models, though multiple firearm distributors and retailers have put that information into the world. The announcements claim that as of Nov. 30, 2025, the only current models that GLOCK will be shipping are G43, G43X and G48 pistols. All three of these are part of GLOCK’s slimline family.
This means that while Gen 3s, Gen 4s and Gen 5s might not completely disappear, they could get harder to find in the next few months. There are a lot of factors that can affect availability, including reactionary purchasing by fans rushing to collect.
Not much is known about the new GLOCK V, as the company just announced its existence. Originally, it was claimed that the GLOCK V models would only be available in non-MOS models. However, GunBroker can confirm that three commercially available GLOCK V pistols will come optics ready —G20 V MOS, G21 V MOS and G23 V MOS — as will one Distributor Exclusive Model — G19X V MOS TB (threaded barrel). The GLOCK V models will also contain changes that prevent switch conversions. That is the only information available. Many have assumptions, but most know how it can go when one assumes. Regardless, changes are coming, and figuring out the reasons isn’t that hard.
Over the past few years, GLOCK has faced some issues, or rather threats. None of these, however, were of the company’s making. Bad actors have been adding an illegal part to the company’s pistols, making them full auto, which is also illegal. Unfortunately, some people don’t care that criminals are breaking the law so they can break the law. They just blame the gun.
Several states and cities have, in fact, filed lawsuits against the company claiming it “knowingly” manufactured firearms that could be easily converted into full auto. This is despite the fact that GLOCK’s basic design is from the 80s, long before 3D printing. Then, California passed the law banning GLOCK-style pistols; it goes into effect in January.
Few outside of GLOCK knows anything for sure. I have theories, as do many others, but I could, of course, be talking out my derriere. Still, everyone loves a good conspiracy theory. Here are mine regarding the GLOCK changes.
