Thompson M1, HK UMP, Krinkov 545 MCR, M1919A4 | Big Sandy Machine Gun Shoot 2023

Here is a run down of some guns being shot at Big Sandy Machine Gun Shoot 2023, from class three to non class three items, there is a bit of everything and a lot of history. Such as the WWII Thompson M1 machine gun in 45 caliber. They were used in the military during World War II all the way up to Vietnam. This is a heavy gun, designed to be fired a lot from the hip area. The stock has a lot of comb to it and when you’re shooting off the shoulder it likes to climb.

Comparing that to a modern 45 submachine gun like the HK UMP, that gun has very little recoil and it doesn’t climb very much, it is super controllable, modern designs with the roller blocks really make them a lot nicer.

A Krinkov 545 Gun that has very little recoil, a little subcompact gun like that, it makes it pretty controllable and a lot of fun. A bit of history on the Krinkov 545: they’re popular here in the US with shooters but the Russians are not real happy with them because they don’t perform very well at distance. They were designed as a PDW, something for a pilot, chopper pilot or tank crewman, it was real compact and small, but could be used in the field.

The Fightlite M16, Fightlite upper receiver on an F16 Lower, that one’s a crowd pleaser because it’s obnoxiously loud and fast. A single shot 50 Cal rifle with a short barrel 16″ inch”, some full size 50 Cal rifles and a 1919A4 are just some of the big guns at the event.

The 1919A4 gun was purchased on GunBroker.com about three years ago. β€œIt does work, you just gotta watch those auctions!”
