Scott, part of the heavy hitters tech restoration team, shares the rich proven combat history of the Awesome T-62 Tank at the Big Sandy Machine Gun Shoot 2023.
Yuri, a T-62 Tank, is a combat certified pedigree, Syrian Army T- 62. This is a Soviet design main battle tank from use of the Syrian army. This tank was featured in the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and it went on to go into the Lebanese conflict in 1982, again with Syria, at that point the Israelis captured this tank and then the tank made its way into private hands through various collectors. The tank is absolutely riddled with battle damage.
The gun is a 115 millimeter smoothbore tank gun. This is important because this was the first smoothbore tank gun ever produced and this was essentially the forefront in maintaining gun technology today. This T-62 Tank is also the largest firing tank in private hands in the US and the first time anyone has privately developed and successfully shown a load in a smoothbore made gun.
