Shooting a Lahti Anti Tank Gun | Big Sandy Machine Gun Shoot 2023

Kenton shares a bit of history and shooting a Lahti Anti Tank Gun at Big Sandy Machine Gun Shoot 2023. This anti-tank gun was used by the Finnish army in the early winter war against the Russians. The Finns would pull the Lahti, on skis, behind their troops. Russians did not like this anti-tank gun, it would appear out of nowhere, the ski troops would shoot up the Russian convoy in their light armor, and then take off.

The Lahti shoots a 20-millimeter anti-tank gun round. It shoots from a closed bolt, has a ten-round magazine, and uses a crank because the spring would be too heavy, you would turn the crank to take the bolt back, release the bolt, chamber a round and pull the trigger. The Lahti is a relatively light anti-tank gun, the site can go as far as you can see, and the effective range is 500 meters. They also make an anti-aircraft mount for the Lahti.

Some of the Lahti’s were made in full auto and this particular Lahti is a semi auto, very finally made. The ammunition is about $80 – $100 each and is becoming very rare, and we are starting to reload the ammunition. This is the Lahti anti-tank gun, later in the war, the round became too small to do any damage against German tanks.
