Taurus Introduces the TX9 — A Duty-Ready Modular Firearm

Taurus Holdings has announced the launch of the TX9 line of striker-fired pistols. This marks a defining milestone for the company as its first purpose-built, duty-grade pistol platform. Expanding the highly successful Taurus TX Platform into 9mm for the first time, the TX9 brings the shooter-focused DNA that made the TX22 a standout. It applies it to a service-ready system engineered for duty, defense and concealed carry.

Designed and tested to meet military and law-enforcement requirements worldwide, including NATO specifications, the TX9 represents a significant evolution in Taurus pistol design. Built in the USA, the TX9 establishes a unified standard for performance, consistency and adaptability across three mission-driven configurations.

The Signature TX Platform — Reimagined as a Duty System

The TX9 is the next chapter in the TX Platform shooters have come to trust for ergonomics, shootability and reliability. Now delivered in 9mm, the TX9 transforms that proven foundation into a true duty-grade platform. The company engineered it for real-world professional and defensive use.

At the heart of the TX9 is the Taurus Modular System, a serialized steel chassis that enables modular grip configurations, simplified upgrades and long-term platform adaptability. This architecture ensures the TX9 is not a single handgun. It is a scalable system designed to evolve with the demands placed upon it.

Each TX9 model features a striker-fired trigger system engineered to deliver a clean, consistent trigger pull. This enhances accuracy, control and shooter confidence on the range or in the field.

Optics-Ready by Design; Duty-Ready by Intent

Every TX9 pistol is equipped with the Taurus T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide. It utilizes shared optic-cut geometry for compatibility with today’s most popular red-dot optics. Designed as an integrated system from inception, the TX9 optics-ready platform delivers durability, repeatability and long-term reliability—never a retrofitted compromise.

Three Sizes; One Proven Standard

Taurus offers the TX9 platform in three purpose-built sizes. Each are engineered around the same duty-grade architecture while addressing distinct mission requirements:

  • TX9 Full Size — Featuring a 4.5-inch barrel and 17-round capacity, the Full Size TX9 is a true service pistol. Designed for duty use, home defense and high-round-count training, it delivers full-size ergonomics, a longer sight radius and balanced recoil management for sustained performance.
  • TX9 Compact — With a 4.0-inch barrel and 15-round capacity, the Compact represents the most versatile expression of the TX9 platform. Retaining the same controls, trigger system and testing standards as the Full Size, it offers a balanced footprint suitable for carry, training and general-purpose use without compromise.
  • TX9 Subcompact — Purpose-built for off-duty or concealed carry, the Subcompact features a 3.4-inch barrel and 13-round capacity. It delivers full TX9 performance in a discreet, carry-optimized package while maintaining optics-ready capability and consistent controls. This allows shooters to downsize without sacrificing familiarity or confidence.

Unified Controls; Seamless Transition

Across all three models, the TX9 line maintains consistent ergonomics, trigger feel and control layout. This allows shooters to transition seamlessly between sizes. Modular grips with interchangeable backstraps ensure proper fit for a wide range of hand sizes. This reinforces the TX Platform’s shooter-first design philosophy.

A New Chapter for the TX Platform — and for Taurus

“The TX9 represents a defining moment for Taurus,” said Bret Vorhees, CEO of Taurus Holdings, Inc. “It is our first dedicated duty pistol platform, built on the TX foundation shooters already trust and engineered from the ground up for professional-grade performance. By bringing that DNA into a 9mm duty system—and building it here in the USA—we’ve delivered a platform designed to perform across every role and every size.”
