LWRC SMG 45 Pistol

There have been other pistol caliber carbines with similar designs to the LWRC SMG 45, but it is the only one that has a proprietary short-recoil, delayed blowback action. In other words, the barrel reciprocates inside the frame, but unlike most modern non-AR pattern pistols, there is no slide that moves. It is a unique mechanism that can’t be found in any other pistol-caliber carbine.

Apache Revolver

What do you get when you combine a revolver with no barrel, a knife, and brass knuckles? The Apache Revolver, a favorite of French thieves in the 1900s. On the plus side, it folds up. On the minus side, because it has no barrel, it has an effective range of just a few feet, so you won’t be taking this one hunting.

USFA ZIP

One of the most prominent bullpup pistols in existence, this space-age polymer pistol shot 22 LR. The problem was that it was wildly unreliable, suffering failure to feed and extract, as well as jamming issues. USFA collapsed because of the ZIP, unfortunately, but the pistol keeps an interesting place in the history of pistols.

KelTec CP33

The CP33 is one of the few effective firearms on this list. It is an odd design, but the CP33 makes for an incredible 22 LR range plinker. It has, as the name suggests, a 33-round quad-stacked magazine.

Bergmann 1894

This weird-looking German pistol has had a recent resurgence in popularity thanks to featuring prominently as the titular Mandolarian’s weapon. While it certainly looks like a Star Wars weapon, the Bergmann 1984 uses the odd 8mm round that was considered underpowered for just about any use. It had a five-round forward sitting magazine, also unusual for a pistol.

Chiappa Rhino

The Chiappa Rhino, unlike many of the pistols on this list, is still in production. It is got a unique mechanism for a revolver in that it fires from the bottom chamber instead of the top. It has a strange, movie-like look to it. Because of this, it was used by Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad.
