Weatherby Introduces the Mark V Backcountry Guide and Guide Ti

Weatherby, a renowned firearms manufacturer, announced the launch of the Mark V Backcountry Guide and Guide Ti rifles. These are the latest additions to the popular Backcountry line.

Starting at just 5.1 pounds, the Backcountry Guide Series sets a new benchmark for lightweight mountain rifles. These rifles feature shorter BSF carbon barrels and Peak 44 carbon stocks with factory-installed Spartan Precision mounts.

Weatherby Mark V Backcountry Guide Features

Peak 44 Blacktooth Stock with Spartan Precision Technology

The Peak 44 Blacktooth stock is engineered to be the lightest and strongest carbon fiber stock on the market. Each stock features a patented carbon-fiber bedding block that engages the front recoil lug, transferring recoil force directly to the exterior shell. This results in reduced felt recoil for the shooter.

The Blacktooth’s 3D Hex recoil pad further enhances recoil management by stretching the time component of recoil, turning a sharp kick into a gentle shove through its honeycomb structure. The forend features two factory-installed Spartan Precision Gunsmithing adapters for seamless use of their ultralight accessories.

BSF Barrels

BSF uses carbon fiber in a way that no other carbon barrel manufacturer does, leading to unmatched accuracy and heat dispersion properties. After BSF turns down a 416R stainless-steel match barrel, they sleeve it with carbon fiber and load it under tension. Because it’s under tension, as the barrel heats up it keeps the rifling straighter, resulting in a stiffer, more rigid barrel.

Most competitors use a wrapping method that has been proven to trap heat and cause delamination. With BSF’s proprietary method, 95 percent of the carbon fiber does not touch the contoured barrel, creating air gaps that allow air to foil around the steel and cool the barrel faster.

The high-quality carbon fiber is designed to move at the same expansion rate as the 416R stainless steel resulting in a vibration dampening effect. What does that mean? It means the carbon fiber absorbs the shock and vibration allowing for more consistent groups. All Weatherby rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot SUB-MOA group at 100 yards with factory-loaded ammunition. All barrels are threaded 5/8-24.

Shorter Barrel Lengths

The Backcountry Guide Series features shorter barrels on Weatherby Magnum calibers, with most barrels being 2 inches shorter than traditional offerings (excluding the 6.5-300). This design offers improved maneuverability without sacrificing performance.

Titanium Action Upgrade

The Guide is available with a titanium action, which has an incredible strength-to-weight ratio. Titanium cuts a half pound off the weight of the rifle and is naturally corrosion-resistant, making it perfect for hunting in harsh conditions.

TriggerTech Trigger

TriggerTech’s trigger delivers a true zero-creep break and is externally adjustable down to 2.5 pounds. Precision-cut, stainless-steel components ensure consistent trigger pulls, providing a safe, reliable and corrosion-resistant package.

Accubrake ST

The Accubrake ST is equipped with 30 symmetrically spaced ports that help harness recoil. This reduces felt recoil by up to 53 percent. Its titanium construction helps reduce weight and brings the balance point of the rifle closer to the center.

Cerakote Finish

All metal components are protected with a weather-resistant and durable Cerakote coating, ensuring the rifles can withstand the harshest conditions.
